I grew up in West Virginia, moved to Raleigh, NC for 18 years, then to Palm Coast, FL for the past 15 years. I long to be back in the mountains with the lovely autumns and springs, and I especially long for snowfalls, crackling fireplaces, and mugs of hot chocolate.
Writing became a passion for me in 1979 when Professor Pat Urbas at West Virginia Institute of Technology encouraged me to consider “writing as a vocation.” As life would turn out, I did not heed her advice until I almost died on an operating table November 3, 1999. Since then, I’ve ardently pursued writing.
I’ve written twenty manuscripts, nine of them published, with a tenth book, “Inking Your Thinking ~ The Mindset of Writing” due out by autumn 2016. The books “Go Write and You Won’t Go Wrong ~ How to Write Your Book in 30 Days!” and “Your Book as a Business Card” are the first two books of a three book series with “Inking Your Thinking” being the third. I also have a collection of short stories written with three other fellow writers titled Writing is Easy. We also have a second, smaller collection titled, More Writing is Easy. My writers group, The Rogues Gallery Writers, also collaborated on the novel The Method Writers: Four Writers, Four Methods, One Twisted Novel, and another collection of short stories titled, “Fictitious Fiction.”
So far, I have written two books of poetry titled Loves Lost and Found (2009) and Poetry in Black and White (2012). Both books contain excellent interior art, one a collection of acrylic paintings that interpret the poetry, the other a collection of photography that interprets the poetry.
Since I have six children, I wrote a book on fatherhood. I felt like I had earned the right. Basically, I wrote down everything I did to bond with my youngest child from pre-birth through 18 months old. The book is titled Fatherhood 101: Bonding Tips for Building Loving Relationships.
I could go on and on, but you’ll get a gist of who I am by my blogs. Check out my Fiction’s Footsteps blog as well as my Poetry in Black and White blog. If you need more, let me know. You apparently know about this blog at MichaelRayKing.com
My biggest passion next to writing is my workshop “How to Write Your Book in 30 Days!” This workshop takes you from struggling to success in five weeks. I’ve helped over 100 people in Flagler County get their manuscripts written, and I can help you as well. Go to How to Write Your Book in 30 Days or Michael Ray King Publishing for more information.
