Jim Farrell – Inspired Mic Spotlight – February 2015

February brings some new faces to the  Inspired Mic at Leroy’s 19th Hole, the Country Club restaurant and bar for the Cypress Knoll Golf Course in Palm Coast. In the coming two weeks this site will display the presenters who will be on stage on February 17th. With two months under our belt at Leroy’s, we feel we have the recipe for an even better event this month! We are excited about our growth and the community’s interest in local talent. Please check back each day for a little insight into our Inspired Mic Event presenters!

Jim FerrellJim Farrell

Jim Farrell, a native New Yorker now living in Palm Coast, has published a novel, Brooklyn Boy, about growing up in Brooklyn and Long Beach, NY, in the forties and fifties, and a short story collection, Kiss Me Kate, a collection of short tales set in a variety of locations and illustrating the depth of the human spirit, the importance of laughter, and the miracle of love. Bill Reynolds, one of the most popular columnists in Rhode Island, recently recommended Kiss Me Kate in his widely read Saturday column in the Providence Journal.

Jim has just completed his second novel, The Extraordinary Banana Tree, about the fall of Saigon. Like Brooklyn Boy it is semi-autobiographical, but fiction. The main character, Billy Dobson, is Manager of Flight Operations for Air America in Saigon. The author was also Manager of Flight Operations for Air America in Saigon. What a coincidence! The book is in the editing process now.

Jim has done local book signings at Le Cose Belle and at Change Jars Books. He will be participating at the F.R.E.S.H Book Festival 2015 in Daytona Beach on January 2nd and 3rd.
Jim is also an active member of the Florida Writers Association.
