Vern - Best- colorVern Shank

Vern grew up around Philadelphia with an early start in music & film through band, chorus and stage. While in high school, Vern was cast for a small role as an extra in the movie Witness starring Harrison Ford. This unique experience made Vern catch the “bug” to move to Hollywood.

Upon graduation, Vern moved to LA and attended courses at Musicians Institute. He performed in a local band there and DJ’d as well. During his tenure at the school, Vern also enrolled in some film and screenwriting classes.

He later relocated to Florida and continued his entertainment ventures. These included managing record stores, working for SonyMusic, ownership of Pyramid DJs (a 25+ year company) and owner of the Flagler Music Factory music store from 2005 to 2008. He also was an on-air personality on the area’s first radio station, the now defunct Blizzard 93.3 FM.

Notable accomplishments include co-writing and executive producing several songs and a music video for musician Mark Walker featuring 3 time Grammy winner, Freedom Williams of C&C Music Factory. (Everybody Dance Now and Things That Make You Go Hmm). Another noteworthy highlight is co-executive producing a band The Boss Martians and helping to negotiate 2 separate deals for them; one with E-Trade to use one of their songs for the talking baby commercials and another to be used in the Dwayne The Rock Johnson / Julie Andrews movie The Tooth Fairy released by 20th Century Fox in 2010. Yet another highpoint was management of country artist David Lane whose upcoming album is being co-produced by Chairman of the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame, Roger Murrah.

In 2012, Vern started his own band project The Cherry Drops. He is lead singer, musician and principal songwriter.. Their debut album Everything’s Groovy garnered favorable attention. In August of 2014 their song “Outta’ Sight” was named Sirius XM Radio’s Coolest Song In The World by Little Steven Van Zandt (Of the Bruce Springsteen band). Actor Drew Carey also named it as one of his top 10 favorite songs.. Vern is currently in production of his band’s 2nd album featuring guest musicians Tony Valentino of The Standells (Love That Dirty Water), Ron Dante of The Archies (Sugar, Sugar) and our very own Steve Boone of The Lovin’ Spoonful.

Vern still finds time to manage his DJ business Pyramid, be a Cherry Drop as well as recently opening his own radio station Surf 97.3 FM located directly on the Flagler Beach pier. He still writes when he finds the time. A few of his scripts include a fantasy “Transference”, an action/western “Bullet Time” and a joint venture script “Hangin’ In There; The Harold Lloyd Story with Ralph Lloyd, great nephew of Harold (the silent film actor notable for his iconic picture of him hanging from the New York City clock). Vern also wrote 2 music videos for his band in which one of them “Outta’ Sight” was screened at the Flagler Film Festival and took first in the “Anything Goes Short Film” category.

Vern maintains a duel residence in both Florida and Burbank, CA. area for his business ventures where he travels and maintains short residency in both states throughout the year.

  2. I do believe all of the concepts you have introduced to your post.

They are very convincing and will definitely work. Still, the posts are very quick for novices.

May just you please lengthen them a little from subsequent time?
    Thank you for the post.
