January is upon us and the Inspired Mic returns to Leroy’s 19th Hole, the Country Club restaurant and bar for the Cypress Knoll Golf Course in Palm Coast. In the coming two weeks this site will display the presenters who will be on stage on January 20th. One of the beauties of Leroy’s 19th Hole is we have a capacity of nearly 100. In December, more than 60 people showed up for the event! We are excited about our growth and the community’s interest in local talent. Please check back each day for a little insight into our Inspired Mic Event presenters!
Steve Boone was born in September 1943 at Camp Lejeune, N.C. just as the war in the Pacific was beginning to turn in favor of the Allies. After the war was over Steve’s dad left the Marine Corps and returned to the hotel business and as a result Steve moved several times before landing in St. Augustine in 1954. Inspired by his older brother Skip’s success in a rock band led him to learn guitar while recovering from a serious auto accident in 1960. The next 50 years would have Steve reaching the pinnacle of success in music with his band The Lovin’ Spoonful and perhaps his greatest accomplishment co-writing the number one summer song of all time “Summer in the City” according to Billboard Magazine.
The 1970’s found Steve operating a recording studio in Baltimore and in 2009 he got a call from one Tony Moss asking to do a story about the legendary Blue Seas Studio. The article came out so well Steve asked Tony if he would co-write with him his story focusing on his life in Rock and Roll and with Tony’s agreement they began work in 2010 on the book Hotter Than A Match Head which came out in the summer of 2014
