I asked Inspired Mic presenters to send me a little something about themselves and what they write. I gave them free reign to pick and choose material about themselves that would be informative and promotional. As The Inspired Mic grows, potential audience participants would like to know something about those who steel their nerves and get up in front of a live audience to present their creativity. In the days leading up to the November 18th event, each of the November readers who send me their info will be In the Spotlight:
With all the talents that I was born with, writing was my favorite. I spent my teenage years walking through libraries checking the many books the shelves held. Speaking to myself, ‘I can write stories as good as some of these.’
Armed with a college notebook, pen and a comfortable chair, I began to write. In the background, my record player softly played my favorite records . My mother had always told me to write about what you know. As a teenager, I didn’t know much about anything, but daydreamed a lot. My imagination took over. Words began to flow on the notepaper.
My love of horses put them into my stories whether a cowboy was riding one or my characters had one. The stories I felt were the best, I typed them out on my old Royal Manual using easy-erase paper.
From some of my stories, I managed to win a short story contest for our Church’s Teen Magazine. In the last six years, as a free lance writer several articles about local events were published in the local newspapers
In 2009, my first ‘baby’ was finished; LOREN‘S JOURNEY OF FAITH. This is a Christian Fiction story full of adventure, romance and how Loren found her faith in God on her journey.
I printed out a copy of ‘Loren’s Journey of Faith’ and gave it to two of my friends to edit and proof-read. After the corrections were made, I sent it off to Westbow Press, a self-publishing company, to be published.
In December, 2013 my book was finally delivered to me! My job of selling begins.
